The term migration refers to the shifting of a person from one place to another place either within the country or to another country in search of better economical opportunities.

Migration is the process of the population shift from one place to another due to better economical opportunities. Those who shift from one place to another place are called migrants.

The movement by people from one place to another with the intention of settling, permanently in the new location is called migration. Migration includes immigration and emigration. People coming into your country from another country for the purpose of taking up residence is called immigration and the people are called immigrants. The process in which a person leaves their own country in order to settle permanently in another is called emigration. And the person is called an emigrant.

World migration report is published by International Organisation for Migration. It provides services to government and migrants regarding migration. It was initially established in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration (ICEM) to help resettle people displaced by World War II but now it became a related organization of the United Nations.
