There are two kinds of organisms; regulators and conformers. Regulators are those who can maintain their internal body temperature according to the external environment. Example: dog, cat, sloth etc.

Aestivation is the summer sleep and hibernation is the winter sleep. They are taken so as to avoid the harsh temperature. It is a dormant phase where the metabolic rate is lowered. For example, Polar bears hibernate and crocodiles aestivate.

Sloth has a very low metabolic rate, it sleeps a lot. It sleeps around 15-18 hours a day. A sloth can lower its heart beat rate. After garden snail, sloth is the slowest animal.

• Cows usually sleep around 3-4 hours a day. But it doesn't happen in a single go, but instead for shorter periods of time. 
• A cow takes frequent naps throughout the day and especially the night, which typically last between one and five minutes at a time.
  
  

• A lizard generally sleeps around 60-80 seconds but its longest sleep can be 4 hours.
  
• A horse can sleep up to 3 hours a day.
  
• A python being the longest sleeping animal can sleep around 2 weeks continuously.
  

A folivore is an organism that is a specialized herbivore and eat leaves. Sloth is an animal that feeds on leave buds and tender shoot. Due to the low metabolic rate, they don't have to eat much. So, they only eat leaves to survive.

Aestivation is a state of prolonged sleep during summer, exhibited by certain animals in response to high temperature and arid conditions. Example - frogs and toads, bees, salamander etc.

In Unihemispheric sleep, also known as asymmetric slow-wave sleep, one half of the brain is in deep sleep, a form of non-rapid eye movement sleep and the eye corresponding to this half is closed while the other eye remains open. It keeps the organism alert for predators.
