  1. 30 cm

  2. 90 cm

  3. 120 cm

  4. 60 cm

Correct Option: C

The distance of an object from the pole of a concave mirror is equal to its radius of curvature. The image must be

  1. real

  2. inverted

  3. same sized

  4. erect

Correct Option: A,B,C

Which one of the following does not use concave mirror?

  1. Magnifire mirror by dentist

  2. Reflector in flashlight

  3. Solar heater

  4. Rear view mirror in cars

Correct Option: C

A small object of height $0.5 cm$ is placed in front of a convex surface of glass$ (\mu = 1.5)$ of radius of curvature $10 cm$. Find the height of the image formed in glass.

  1. $2cm$

  2. $1cm$

  3. $3cm$

  4. $4cm$

Correct Option: C

A oncave mirror of radius of urvature R is kept on a horizontal table. Water (refractive $ index \mu ) $ is poured into it upto a height t. Where should an object be placed so that its image is ormed at the position of object itself?

  1. $ t \left( 1-\frac { 1 }{ \mu } \right) + R from the mirror $

  2. $ t + R \left( 1-\frac { 1 }{ \mu } \right) from the mirror $

  3. $ \frac {R-t}{\mu} from mirror $

  4. $ t \left( 1-\frac { 1 }{ \mu } \right) + \frac {R}{\mu} from the mirror $

Correct Option: C

A virtual image is

  1. always magnified

  2. always erect

  3. always caught on a screen

  4. uncapturable on a screen

Correct Option: D
Explanation:

Virtual images cannot be captured on a screen.

A virtual Image cannot be taken on the screen.

  1. True

  2. False

Correct Option: A
Explanation:

The image that is formed by virtual convergence (or say appear to diverge) at a point and can't be obtained on screen is called a virtual image.

And, the image formed by real convergence of rays and can be obtained on screen are called real image.

Given statement is $True$.

Real images are always ......................

  1. Erect

  2. Smaller is size

  3. Inverted

  4. Large in size

Correct Option: C
Explanation:

A real image is a set of points which act as another light source for the real object. It’s like a real replica of the object as far as the optics is concerned. So a real image is only formed when rays from different points on the object meet each other (converge).

Since rays are only converged by a concave mirror or a convex lens towards their center, rays can only meet below the X-axis if the object is above the X-axis, hence real image is formed inverted in all planes with respect to the object.

So the image is always inverted.

Consider the following statements :
A real image
1. can be formed on a screen
2. is always magnified and inverted
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?

  1. 1 only

  2. 2 only

  3. Both 1 and 2

  4. Neither 1 nor 2

Correct Option: A
Explanation:

If the image is real then the light will actually converge to form it.

Hence it can be obtained on a screen.
Hence 1 is true.

If object is at infinity for a concave mirror then it forms a diminished and real image of the object. Hence 2 is false

Which of the following can produce a virtual image for any position of the object?

  1. Plane mirror

  2. Concave mirror

  3. Convex lens

  4. All of the above

Correct Option: C
