The resources which cannot be replenished again after consumption of resources are known as non-renewable resources. Coal is obtained from the Earth's crust due to the decomposition of the dead matter for long period of time. It is commonly used as the source of energy. There are limited deposits of coal present and they take a long time to be formed. so, they are known as non-renewable form of energy. 

The resources which can be replenished again after their consumption are referred as the renewable sources of energy. The forest biomass is considered as a great source of energy in the form of wood, charcoal, etc. The forests serve as the renewable energy source.
