Rajasthan is included under North-western Railway zone which is one among the 17 railway zones of India. Its headquarter is at Jaipur. It comprises of four divisions:  Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur and Ajmer divisions. This zone came into existence on 1 October 2002.

First train in India ran in the year 1853 on April 16. This train ran from Mumbai to Thane. It contained 14 carriages drawn by 3 locomotives named Sultan, Sindh and Sahib. Distance travelled was around 21 miles in length and took approximately 45 minutes.

First train in Rajasthan ran in the year 1874. It travelled from Bandikui (Dausa) to Agra Fort (Uttar Pradesh). From then onwards there was continuous development in Railways. Total length of railways in the state of Rajasthan is about 6000 Kms.

First and busiest international airport of Rajasthan is Jaipur international airport which is the capital city of Rajasthan. The airport was granted the status of international airport on 29 December 2005.

Military and civil importance airport of Rajasthan is located in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. This airport provides its services for both military as well as civil purposes.

Fastest and costliest mode of transportation is airways. It is very suitable for transport of valuable and precious goods and is a great time saver. This mode of transport is not very well developed in Rajasthan. Jaipur international airport, Maha Rana Pratap Airport, Airport Of Military and Civil Importance are the different airports of Rajasthan.
